OF COURSE U ALWAYS HAVE AN ISSUE ON THE LAST RIVETS UR DOING AND WE MESSED UP THE ROUNDED WATER LEG AND I THINK ITS FIXABLE BUT WITH TIME RUNNING SHORT WE JUST LET IT GO FOR NOW WHEN WE RETURN FROM BITTER CREEK WILL FIX HER RIGHT UP.  RIVETS I AM SURE TIRED OF AND THERE IS MORE TO GO.  BUT AS U CAN SEE TENDER IS BACK FROM LINEX AND AND FITTINGS ARE GOING IN AND WE SHOULD HAVE WATER VALVES AND OIL TANK BY THE WEEKEND.  ALL THAT IS LEFT IS TO RIVET THE TIME AND START ON THE LITTLE STUFF TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A TENDER.  ENGINE IS ABOUT DONE FOR THIS TRIP. CAB IS MOUNTED AND RUNNING BOARDS ARE MOUNTED ON THERE.  ALL THE PLUMBING IS JUST ABOUT DONE FOR THE BITTER CREEK TEST.

TENDER IS GETTING CLOSER TO BE DONE, SLOW GOING WITH A COUPLE THOUSAND RIVETS, HOPE I CAN GET THE TANK LINEXED THIS WEEK AND THEN BACK TO ASSEMBLE.  I WANT TO GET A SEAT MADE FOR IT THIS WEEK TOO.   I STILL HAVE TO FAB UP FOOT PEGS AND THE OIL TANK IS GETTING WORKED ON THIS WEEK TOO.   ENGINE HAD A GOOD FIRE UP ON FRIDAY TO CHECK THE NEW CHECK VALVES AND THAT WORKED MORE OR LESS THE INJECTORS WERE FILTHY AND AFTER CLEANING THEY WORKED PRETTY GOOD.

AS YOU CAN SEE THE FIRE BOX IS NAKED I TOOK THE PAN OFF AND I WELDED IN A DIFFUSER FOR THE AIR SLOT MIGHT HELP THE OIL COMING OUT BUT NOT SURE.  I ALSO FINISHED THE FIREBOX DOOR WITH THE BOLTS AND THE HOLES.  I HAVE TO FINISH THE REAR CROSS SUPPORTS AND ALLOW MY SELF TO MAKE ALL THE SUPPORTS FOR THE INJECTOR LINES.  I REMOVED ALL THE INJECTOR LINES TO MAKE NEW WITH NEW CHECKS THAT ARE ON THERE WAY.  I AM GOING TO WORK ON THE CAB SUPPORTS TODAY  AND TRY AND KNOCK THAT OUT.  AND I GET MY TRUCK BACK TODAY WELL SEE HOW THAT WORKS.  I GOT THE DOMES YESTERDAY MAKING THEM FIT AND THE RIGHT HEIGHT IS  ALWAYS FUN BUT WE WILL GET THOSE ON THERE AND THE PLUMBING BACK RIGHT FOR THE HEIGHTS OF THE DOMES.  TENDER IS AT IDLE RIGHT NOW WAITING ON PARTS AND PIECE TO SHOW UP AND THEN BACK ON THAT IT WILL GET LINEX IN IT NEXT WEEK.  THE OIL TANK IS GETTING FABBED RIGHT NOW AND WILL BE READY IN A FEW DAYS.  A LOT TO GET DONE IN A SHORT TIME TO GO RUN FOR A FEW DAYS AND SEE WHAT OTHER BUGS WE NEED TO WORK OUT BEFORE THE RUDY RUN IN JTSRR IN NOV.

TENDER IS GETING ALL FABBED UP OVER THE WEEKEND, I ALSO FIRED UP AGAIN AND FOUND THAT AS WE SEEM TO HAVE THE FIRING UNDER CONTROL NOW THE INJECTORS ARE STILL A LARGE PAIN IN THE BUTT.  AFTER CAREFUL ELIMINATION WE FOUND THAT THE COLE'S CHECK VALVES DON'T FLOW ENOUGH VOLUME TO WORK WITH THESE INJECTORS SO I AM GETTING DIFFERENT ONES TO TEST NEXT WEEKEND.  SHE STEAM'S RIGHT UP AND FIRES DAMN NICE.

SECOND INJECTOR PLUMBING COMING RIGHT ALONG,  AND YES YOU CAN SEE I HAVE STARTED ON THE TENDER,  ANOTHER COUPLE DAYS ON THE FABRICATION AND THEN IT WILL BE RIVET TIME.

MADE SOME MODS TO THE SMOKE BOX THIS WEEK TO SEE IF THAT HELPS WITH THE FIRE.  ALSO GOT A STEAM GAUGE ON THERE AND THE OTHER GAUGE IS THE CYLINDER PRESSURE GAUGE.  PRETTY NICE THAT IT WILL NOW HOLD 140 MY COMPRESSOR IS SET AT 140 SO THAT IS COOL.

LOWERED THE EXHAUST NOZZLE 2-3/4 OF AN INCE AND THEN CHANGED THE PETTYCOAT. 

 IT DOES RAIN IN TUCSON THERE IS PROOF I KNOW I STEAMED IN IT FOR AT LEAST TWO HOURS.  TRUELY AMAZING THE INTEREST AROUND THIS AREA, ONE GENTLEMAN EVEN WENT HOME TO GET A WHISTLE THAT I PUT ON THERE AND BLEW FOR HIM IT WAS LOUD TO SAY THE LEAST.

WE FINALLY GOT ALL THE BOLTS TO STOP LEAKING WATER AND SHE HAD A PRETTY GOOD STEAM UP.  HAD THE CHECK VALVE STICK OPEN ON THE INJECTOR AND HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN AND THEN FIXED THAT WITH A VALVE.  I ALSO GOT TWO SAFTEYS TO FUNCTION NOW AT 145 AND 150 OR AROUND ABOUT THAT.   GOING TO MAKE SOME CHANGES NOW TO THE SMOKE BOX AREA THAT IS WHY I TOOK ALL THE PICS TO  SEE THE DIFFERENCE WHEN I AM DONE.

WELL I GOT THE PINT OF BLACK GOOP THAT IS SUPPOSE TO SEAL THE BOLTS TO THE BOILER, I TOOK EVERYTHING THING APART AND CLEANED THE HOLES AND INSTALLED NEW STEEL STUDS AND NEW STEEL BOLTS INTO THE BOILER WITH THIS BLACK GOOP.

I GOT THE PLUMBING FOR THE INJECTOR ALL FINISHED UP AND NOW I HAVE ONE MORE SET OF FITTING TO FIX FOR THE WATER GLASS AND THEN SCOTCH BRIGHT THE LINES AND TIGHTEN ALL UP AND REINSTALL.

I ALSO MADE A FRONT STEP FOR THE SIDE OF THE SMOKE BOX.

I ALSO FABBED UP THREE DIFFERENT NOZZLES AND CHANGED THE BLOWER JETS FROM 5X.036 TO 5X .045, THE NOZZLES I HAVE ARE .412, .500, .625.

TENDERS ARE HERE ALSO THEY FORGOT ONE PIECE TO THE PUZZLE AND THERE MAKING IT AND SENDING IT ASAP.

WELL THERE IS PROGRESS,  WE GOT THE TRAILER THIS WEEK AND I HAVE PUT THE TRACK DOWN IN IT ALREADY AND NOW GETTING SOME E TRACK TO PUT IN THERE TO TIE STUFF DOWN.  I GOT THE STEAM CHEST PACKING GLADS MACHINED UP AND INSTALLED.  I GOT THE FRONT RUNNING BOARDS ON AND MOUNTED.  I FABBED UP THE SMOKE BOX STEP AND GOING TO CUT THAT OUT OF STEEL AND MOUNT.  I FINISHED THE THROTTLE AND JOHNSON BAR COMPLETELY.  I ALSO MOUNTED THE GENERATOR AND FINISHED IT.

GOT THE JOHNSON BAR ALL FINISHED UP LAST NIGHT NOW I HAVE TO MAKE THE BACK STRAP AND INSTALL AND SHE IS READY.  BUT SHE IS FUNCIONABLE!!

THE C-21 WAS FIRED UP FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS PAST WEEKEND AND WITH A FEW ISSUES AS THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED,  FIRST ISSUE IS THE PLUMBING AS WE ALL KNOW SILVER SOLDERING IS AN ART AND I AM NOT GOOD AT IT,  TWO WE HAD THE BOLTS THAT GO INTO THE BOILER THAT HOLD IT TO THE FRAME LEAKING LIKE CRAZY THAT WAS NOT GOOD,  AND THIRD AFTER THE SECOND ATTEMPT WE MADE THE OIL PAN VENT BIGGER AND THEN WE HAD THE SAFTEY POP AND ONE STUCK OPEN SO WE TOOK IT APART AND U CAN SEE WE HAVE A SMALL NICK IN THE SEAT.  BUT ALL AND ALL IT WORKED AND RUNS WE HAVE SOME FIXES TO DO THIS WEEK AND THEN TRY AGAIN THIS FOLLOWING WEEKEND AND GETTING READY FOR BITTER CREEK 2014.   TRAILER WILL BE HERE THIS WEEK SO TRACK WILL START TO GO IN THAT AND GETTING READY FOR THE BIG MOVE TO PUT THE ENGINE IN AND HAUL IT TO DOUGS PLACE CAN'T WAIT EVEN IF IT DOESNT WORK OR RUN IT STILL WILL BE FUN.
